May Debut Novels

The first time you experience something new, it's exciting! For me reading a brand new book is a great experience. Especially when it is combined with a first time author. Yes there is a chance the book will fall flat but usually the book is amazing.
Last month I listed several new debut novels which were released in April. Several people requested more listings of debut novels,...so here is a listing of some new novels being released in May. Be bold, be daring and try one of these debut novels.

The Girl in the Road: A Novel by Monica Byrne
This debut novel describes a future that is culturally lush, technologically slick, and emotionally wrenching.

The Untold by Courtney Collins
A stunning debut novel set in the Australian outback about a female horse thief, her bid for freedom, and the two men trying to capture her.

Invisible City by Julia Dahl
The secretive society of Brooklyn's ultra-Orthodox Jews provides the backdrop for Dahl's impressive debut.

The End of Always: A Novel by Randi Davenport
This novel tells the story of one young woman's struggle to rise above a vicious family legacy and take charge of her own life.

Cutting Teeth: A Novel by Julia Fierro
Julia Fierro's warm and unpretentious debut explores the all-consuming love we feel for those we need most, and the sacrifice and compromise that underpins that love.

The Hollow Ground: A Novel by Natalie S. Harnett

Inspired by real-life events in Centralia and Carbondale, where devastating coal mine fires irrevocably changed the lives of residents, The Hollow Ground is an extraordinary debut with an atmospheric, voice-driven narrative and an indelible sense of place. If you liked To Kill a Mockingbird try this novel.

I Am Pilgrim: A Thriller by Terry Hayes
This astonishing debut espionage thriller depicts the collision course between two geniuses, one a tortured hero and one a determined terrorist, in a breakneck story reminiscent of John le Carré and Robert Ludlum at their finest.

Remember Me Like This: A Novel by Bret Anthony Johnston
A gripping novel with the pace of a thriller but the nuanced characterization and deep empathy of some of the literary canon's most beloved novels.

Black Lake: A Novel by Johanna Lane
This is a complicated, fascinating story about what happens when the upstairs becomes the downstairs, and what legacy is left when family secrets are revealed.

Young God: A Novel by Katherine Faw Morris
Morris is a debut novelist who demands your attention--and Nikki is a character who will cut you if you let your attention waver.

The Bees by Laline Paull
Thrilling, suspenseful, and spectacularly imaginative, The Bees and its dazzling young heroine will forever change the way you look at the world outside your window.

Troika by Adam Pelzman
A brilliant, astonishing modern love story.

Delicious!: A Novel by Ruth Reichl
Ruth Reichl is a born storyteller with this magical debut novel, she has created a sumptuous, wholly realized world that will enchant you.

The Transcriptionist: A Novel by Amy Rowland
An exquisite novel that asks probing questions about journalism and ethics, about the decline of the newspaper and the failure of language, The Transcriptionist is also the story of a woman's effort to establish a place for herself in an increasingly alien and alienating world.

Magnificent Vibration: A Novel by Rick Springfield
After stealing a mysterious self-help book called Magnificent Vibration: Discover Your True Purpose from a bookstore, Bobby calls the 1-800 number scrawled inside the front cover, only to discover that he has a direct line to God.
