Eudora Welty Centennial Celebration


2009 marks the centennial anniversary of the birth of Eudora Welty. The award-winning American author was born on April 13, 1909 and died on July 23, 2001. Throughout her illustrious career, Welty spent time as a photographer and writer of numerous short stories, novellas, nonfiction, and novels. She was awarded the 1973 Pulitzer Prize for The Optimist's Daughter. Welty was also awarded the O. Henry Award for Short Stories on six separate occasions.
